FAQ

Q: Why is the new data source I’m trying to create with the SQL Socket connector unable to connect to my Microsoft SQL Server?

A: Double check the following information in the connection profile in your SQL Socket account:

  • IP address or URL to the server is correct
  • Username and password are valid for the server you are connecting to
  • Database name is correct
  • Username and password are valid for the specific database you are connecting to on the server
  • Username and password are valid (at least read access) for the specific table(s) or view(s) involved in your query
  • Lastly, if your server is behind a firewall -which we strongly recommend- you must whitelist all of Google’s IP Addresses associated with Data Studio. You can find a list of the IP Addresses mentioned in their documentation near the bottom of the page under the heading ‘Notes’.
  • If you’re still having trouble, contact support.

Q: Do you offer a trial?

A:  Yes. You are welcome to try SQL Socket connector free for 14 days.  To maintain the security of the site, and make sure all users are real people, we do require a credit card to begin the free trial, but your card will not be charged until after the free trial. At the end of the free trial period your account will automatically be upgraded to a 5 Connection Profile plan and your card will be charged. If you do not want to continue, please make sure you login to your account and cancel before that charge occurs.

Q: What happens if I do not renew my license?

A: Your card will be charged and license automatically renewed each month.  If you choose to cancel, we do not offer refunds, but your license will remain active for one month after the last charge.

Q: Is my information secure?

A: SQL Socket is a Google Partner Connector, which is published only after strict review by the Google Team. SQLSocket.com uses https for transferring information securely. Communication between the connector and our API is encrypted and secured with a 40 character API key. All your sensitive information is secured through encryption at rest and in transit. All customer information is stored in an isolated database, and the web server and database server are hosted on an independent network with restricted access.

Data Studio uses Google’s authentication protocol and data security. Access to any data shared through a report or data source created in Google data studio is controlled by either owner’s credentials access or viewer’s credentials access. For more details, you can read:

Q: Do you offer refunds?

A: Our billing works on a monthly basis, and we do not offer refunds for any partial month.  Your license will remain active for one month after the last charge on your credit card. However, if you are experiencing a malfunction, you can contact support to get help or request a refund if we can’t get the connector working for you.

Q: How do I get support?

A: We offer live chat or phone support during normal business hours, and a 1 business day response time for email support.  Visit our support page to find out more.
